System: Xbox 360 “slim”

After searching for days and days looking for the new Xbox 360 I finally find one about two weeks ago. The new 360 has a lot of the newest bells and whistles. A shiny, slimmer design makes it look awesome. Plus you can’t beat the 250 GB internal hard drive & built in Wi-Fi that comes with it. If you buy just the basic bundle for the new 360 it’ll come with all your power and input cables except for HDMI or Ethernet cable if you’re one of those gamers like me that doesn’t do wireless. Now if you do wireless networking the 360 has integrated 802.11n Wi-Fi that is compatible with b/g/n wireless networks.

Here is some helpful information on the price bundles. If you buy the new 360 from certain places you’ll just get the basic bundle that just comes with the console, cables, wireless controller and wired headset. Now if you buy your 360 from GameStop, Amazon.com or any other kind of online websites they might give you a better bundle. On GameStop’s website they give you a bundle with a extra controller and the hard drive transfer cable if you need to transfer stuff from your old 360 to the new one. The new 360 price starts at $299.99 and other bundles like I just mentioned start at around $369.97. Another piece of information is that the 360 comes with a 1 year warranty but you can buy extended warranties on it.

Here are some of the pros and cons from the new 360 after already playing around with it for two weeks. The main pros for the 360 has to be the hard drive and that it’s Kinect ready. It runs way quieter compared to the old 360 and doesn’t get as hot as the old one. From websites I’ve looked at the new 360 suppose to have a feature that cuts it off when it gets too hot that way you shouldn’t be getting any red rings. Now for the cons I haven’t found that many except for some of the stuff they should have done for the bundle. It should have come with a chargeable battery pack for the controller instead of the standard one. Also they took away the Ethernet cable from the bundle. The only problem I’ve had so far from the 360 is that it has frozen up twice. Don’t know if it was user error or just a bug. I’ll post more on my blog page if I find any more problems or cool facts about the 360. -JUNKJDAWG

System: PSP go

About three weeks ago I was sitting at my computer going thru my normal daily routine of web surfing when I came across an add that said if you buy a psp go, and register it, you would be eligible for 3 FREE downloads (Little Big Planet, SOCOM Fireteam Bravo3, and Ratchet and Clank size matters). I have been on the fence about this thing for quite some time so I thought- what the heck- at least it comes with some free games-that aren’t half bad either- so I went to my local gaming store and picked one up. I feel like I have played with it long enough now to give it a decent review so here it goes…

The actual system itself is very nice! It has the quintessential sony ‘sexiness’ about it and feels pretty sturdy in the hands as well. I have both of the other psp systems and I would have to say that the build quality appears to be the best on the psp go (to my surprise). My hands are about medium size and I have no problems holding/operating the device. The only real complaint I would have is maybe make the analog stick a bit bigger and smoother…and of course ADD ANOTHER ONE!… but that is an opinion best left for one of my rants. Anyway, the overall system is fine. My complaints begin when you try (painstakingly) to retrieve your FREE downloads. Now be prepared to wait…and wait for them. It took me 9 days and 3 phone calls to sony just to get them! Call me crazy but WTF sony?! really?? In today’s world of instant gratification I find it hard to believe that you cannot just log in and download them. Not to mention the system/game bundle will run you about 250 clams which I would say for the average person, like myself, doesn’t leave much leftover for buying any other games- at least not right away. So while I was (im)patiently waiting for my downloads the whole time I’m thinking ‘this sucks… what a rip’. Now in psp’s defence, the 3 free games are pretty good- probably the best on the darn thing- so they are worth the wait. So if you do buy a psp go with the 3 game downloads be prepared to wait. -RAMR0DD
